About Me

Trish Surovik, MEd, LPC, LCDC, CART has nearly 22 years of experience working with and/or treating a variety of mental health-related issues. She has worked in the education field for 9 years. Seven of those years as a Special Education teacher, five of which she worked with emotionally disturbed children in a residential treatment facility. Two of her nine years in education, she was a School Counselor. She spent a year and a half working as a transition counselor for JACS (Joint Action in Community Service) through Gary Job Corps.

For over three years, she worked with children with emotional disturbances in a residential treatment facility, providing substance abuse treatment and therapy - developing her own approach to substance abuse treatment. She also managed the Supportive Outpatient Continuum of Care Program for the Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse in Brenham, Texas, where she facilitated group and individual sessions with those who have been incarcerated for various felony drug and/or alcohol-related offenses. She has extensive training and experience in treating severe mental health disorders, substance abuse and co-dependence, anger control, and school-related/behavioral problems. She has been trained to and has worked with individuals, groups, couples, families, children, and adolescents in a variety of settings.

Her credentials include: Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance, Texas State University (2002); Master of Education in Special Education, Texas State University (2002); Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (1999); Licensed Professional Counselor; Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor; Certified Anger Resolution Therapist; Certified School Counselor; Certified Special Education and General Education Teacher

Trish is an interactive, cognitive-behavioral therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively identify and address errors in thinking that can lead to unproductive methods of behavior that keep individuals stuck and prevent growth. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
